Damage to roof framing is not always readily apparent after a storm. Many times the framing must be inspected from the attic. Unfortunately, access to the underside of roofs is not usually very easy, especially if the roof does not have a very steep pitch. You can see in this photo that movement in this attic would be hindered by the ductwork and relatively low pitch of the roof. Note that the Batt insulation as well as the insulation wrapping the ducts have been blown around and loosened by hurricane winds entering through the gable vents and through a damaged soffit.
